General Questions
Q:
What’s the difference between AsiaStocknow and other well-known websites?
A:
AsiaStocknow only lists products that are classed as excess stock and available immediately on a B2B (“business-to-business”) basis. We also offer the complete service to help you get the product you require with a personalized level of service that will be tailored to your needs.
Q:
Where is AsiaStocknow based?
A:
We are a registered Hong Kong company with offices there as well as in Vietnam and Thailand but our network is expanding now in to China, Taiwan, Korea and India.
Q:
Does AsiaStocknow hold all the stock?
A:
No - the stock is held at the manufacturer’s location. We provide the means for them to list their product to a wide general audience and a simple method to our customers of getting hold of the product.
Q:
Why is VIETNAM only listed on the website?
A:
This is where we have established our first network of companies but we are also working on adding new countries over the coming months including Thailand, India, Malaysia and others.
Q:
What is the background of AsiaStocknow?
A:
Our business was based on our experience where many of the manufacturing companies do not have the resource or knowledge or time to deal with their excess stock and so we are able to help them address that and share the benefits directly with our customers.
Q:
How much experience does AsiaStocknow have in Asia?
A:
The directors have a combined experience of over 35 years of doing business in Asia. It is where we live and it is where we do business.
Q:
Can I buy just one piece?
A:
No - if you want to buy just one piece then there are other websites that will meet that need. AsiaStocknow is designed to help the small to medium size enterprise (SME) capitalise on the volume availability of finished stock quickly and painlessly so that they in turn can respond to market demands and changes without tying up lots of cash in stock. See what you want, make a bid and if successful then the products are yours.
Q:
Can I get samples?
A:
Samples can be made available but they will need to be purchased. Shipping costs for samples can be much higher when considered on a piece part basis and that must also be considered. Our experience is that most of our customers to date have just bought the quantity listed. For popular items or those for which there is a high demand, the added cycle time in the sample submission and approvals process can often mean that the deal is missed and the stock is sold to someone else.

So what is the buying process?
A:
The buying process is quite straightforward. Choose the country that you would like to see product from, find the product that you want and if you are interested, make a bid on the available stock. If successful the stock is yours - it is as simple as that.
Q:
So I have made a successful bid on a product; then what?
A:
You can arrange shipping yourself or AsiaStocknow can offer the complete service and organize the shipping for you including insurance and the provision of regular tracking updates making the acquisition of the stock as painless as possible.
Q:
Why are the prices so good? Is there a catch?
A:
AsiaStocknow deals in excess stock that is typically in finished goods at the manufacturer and usually as a result of an order cancellation or change in their customer demand. We deal with the manufacturers to get the pricing and then share that directly with our customers.
Customer Service
Q:
I can’t speak the language of the country I want to buy stock from. How do I communicate with them?
A:
Our office staff in the relevant countries is either bilingual or multilingual. AsiaStocknow will assign an account manager for you with whom you can deal on a one-to-one basis making life straightforward. If you use AsiaStocknow’s shipping service then the account manager will also be your contact point and provide you with the necessary progress updates.
Q:
I don’t always know what I want. How can I make sure that I don’t miss out on a good deal? Sometimes I have to respond quickly as a situation develops.
A:
As our business relationship develops, then we will be able to alert you when something becomes available that we think would be of interest to you. So we can provide you with the sourcing resource too leaving you free to run your business without the burden of having to manage suppliers.
Q:
I am not happy with the product I receive. What happens then?
A:
AsiaStocknow will only list product that meets our own standards. If on receipt then you are not satisfied then we will deal with that issue immediately. Our objective is make sure that all our customers are satisfied because that is how they will buy from us again and how both our customers and ourselves will grow our businesses.
Shipping
Q:
What are the standard terms of shipping?
A:
Most of the products will either be “Ex-works” or “FOB” at the shipment port. This means that once purchased, the goods will be your responsibility at the factory gate (“ex-works”) or at the port of lading (“FOB”).
Q:
I have not shipped product from Asia before. Can AsiaStocknow help me?
A:
Of course! We are used to shipping product around the world and can provide a service that organizes paperwork, shipment and insurance to the country of your choice. We can provide more detailed options at the time of your successful bid as pricing will depend on volume, weight and speed requirements.
Q:
How is the product shipped?
A:
Typical method is by sea container (either standard 20 ft, 40 ft or 40 ft high-side) as 50 sets of garden furniture are large and bulky. But there are other options available and we would be happy to discuss these at the time of your successful bid.
Q:
Can I get a partial load in a container?
A:
If one is transporting product, there is always a cost associated with that. If we have partial loads available then we can of course highlight this to help reduce the overall shipping cost. This depends entirely on what is being shipped where and when.
Q:
What about import duty and taxes?
A:
As the owner of the goods once a successful bid has been made, then you will be responsible for all import duty and taxes. However AsiaStocknow can provide you with the service to ensure that these are addressed without issue. Typically as the goods are exported from their originating country, it will be those taxes on arrival at your specified country that will have to be addressed.
Q:
How long does it take to ship product?
A:
Asia has some of the most efficient seaport and cargo handling facilities in the world. Product can be on its way in a matter of days and the transit time will then depend on to where they are being shipped. If money is not an issue, then airfreight can have product from Asia to the USA in 3 – 5 days; by sea obviously takes longer.
Quality
Q:
Is the quality of the product acceptable? How can I be sure?
A:
It is not in either your or our interest to list, sell and ship product that is of inferior quality. All that will happen then is that neither you nor us will be satisfied and there will be no winners. Our office staff in the countries will audit all stock before it is shipped to ensure acceptable quality. We can provide you with additional photographs as necessary. If you are not satisfied when you receive the goods then we will work out a resolution directly with you.
Q:
There are certain things that are important to me. Can I tell you what they are and have you check for them?
A:
Of course! If we understand clearly what you are looking for then we can make sure that our staff are aware of that and on audit of the goods look for those conditions. It must be remembered that the product listed has already been completed and built to a standard so it is not possible to change what it is but this is why we already audit the product before we list it.
Payment
Q:
How much do I have to pay and when?
A:
On a successful bid, you will be asked to pay a deposit of between 33% and 50% of the value of the bid. The balance of the payment will be required immediately prior to shipment to release the bill of lading.
Q:
I do not want to be bothered by shipping and want AsiaStocknow to arrange the shipment and insurance for me. How do I pay for that?
A:
AsiaStocknow can arrange for “CIF” shipment if you would prefer that. We will provide you with a quotation for that service but it must be remembered that the cost of shipping will vary depending upon size, quantity and weight and insurance will vary depending on value.
Q:
How do I make payment?
A:
You will make the payment to the AsiaStocknow Hong Kong office. This can be facilitated by wire-transfer and once the deposit has been received, the shipping process can begin.
Q:
In what currency can I make the payment?
A:
Using a wire transfer, you can make the payment in a currency of your choice but this will be converted to the US$ value of the order. You will be responsible for the administration costs of the wiring transaction from your bank.
Q:
I want to pay the manufacturer directly.
A:
Sorry - if that is your requirement then you will have to use your own supply chain management team to address that.
Ethics and Environmental Considerations
Q:
I have read many bad things about factories in Asia. How can I be sure that I am not buying something from a factory that uses child labour or has unsafe practices or business processes.
A:
The AsiaStocknow team has many years of doing business in Asia and for US, European and Australasian companies. As such we want to ensure that we meet internationally acceptable standards of work ethics including items such as no child labour, reasonable working hours and fair business practice. We will not list product from a company that does not meet basic standards of ethics.
Q:
What about environmental considerations?
A:
Again, our experience of doing business in Asia for many years on behalf of Western and Australian companies means that we are very familiar with everyone’s increasing concerns about sustainability. Our objective is to make sure that we only list products from companies that meet internationally acceptable standards. It must be remembered that many of the companies with whom we have a relationship already provide product for many leading companies around the world and as such, have already passed their stringent audits on compliance.
Doing Business in Asia
Q:
Why can’t I just deal with the factories directly myself?
A:
Well - you can but not through AsiaStocknow. We are bringing our experience, network and reputation of factories throughout the region to you through our website. If you want to deal with the factories and suppliers yourselves then you will have to do that through your own supply chain management team.
Q:
Can AsiaStocknow help me source a product in Asia?
A:
Although AsiaStocknow is concentrating on excess goods, we do have a wide range of experience of sourcing products as varied as socks, ceramics, furniture and electronic goods. We will be happy to discuss your requirements with you so just let us know what you are looking for and we can start that process.
